Dr Francesco Lo Monaco is one of London’s top-referred cardiologists, known for his outstanding patient care, clinical excellence, and leadership in modern cardiology. 

As the Founder and Director of The National Heart Clinic, he combines his expertise in cardiac imaging with a commitment to staying at the forefront of new research and diagnostic innovation. 

Dr Lo Monaco has distinguished himself for his achievements in clinical cardiology and his unwavering dedication to delivering exceptional patient care. A three-time recipient of the European Awards in Medicine in the field of Cardiology and Patient Care (2022, 2024, and 2025), this prestigious recognition reflects his unparalleled expertise.

Dr Francesco’s journey to becoming an internationally recognised cardiologist began when he availed his medical degree from the esteemed Pavia University, School of Medicine, Italy, in 1997. After that, he got training in Specialist Cardiology at the Istituto Polyclinico San Donato in 2003. 

Moreover, Dr Lo Monaco completed a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Cardiovascular Physiology from Harvard Medical School and New York Medical College in 2006 and Senior Clinical Fellowship in Cardiology in 2009 from West Middlesex University Hospital, London, UK. 

He also cleared all USMLE examinations with distinction, including Step 3, which granted him an unrestricted licence to practise medicine in the United States.  His dedication to continuous learning later led him to complete Level I Accreditation in Cardiac CT Angiogram at Johns Hopkins University in 2012, further strengthening his grip in advanced cardiac imaging. 

Dr Lo Monaco’s expertise covers all aspects of clinical cardiology, with a particular focus on advanced cardiac imaging techniques. With his decades of experience, he has successfully treated a wide range of conditions, including heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, and ischemic heart disease. 

In the field of diagnostics, Dr. Monaco is regarded as a renowned heart specialist, particularly for essential tests such as 24-hour ECG Holter monitoring, echocardiography, and CT coronary angiography. 

In recognition of his exceptional skills and extensive knowledge, Dr Lo Monaco was appointed as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Cardiology at the Imperial College School of Medicine, London. This prestigious position allows him to contribute to the education and development of future medical professionals, leaving a lasting impact on the field.
