BOOK A CONSULTATION

INTRODUCTION

Dr Mark Davies is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist, practising Nottingham Univeristy Hospitals NHS Trust. He completed his cardiology training in the Oxford Deanery in 2021, followed by a post-CCT Electrophysiology Fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) under Professor Kalyanam Shivkumar. During this fellowship, he gained extensive experience in complex ventricular tachycardia (VT) management, including novel mapping techniques, hybrid surgical VT ablation and autonomic modulation therapy, as well as advanced device implantation.

Before entering medicine, Dr Davies trained as a Biochemist and completed a PhD under the supervision of Professor David Lomas, focusing on cellular signalling and protein misfolding in health and disease. His scientific background has underpinned his development as a clinician-scientist, with expertise in molecular cell biology, stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes and optogenetic control in inherited channelopathies and cardiomyopathies.

His current research interests include mechanistic insights into arrhythmia, personalised approaches to risk stratification, and the use of machine learning to inform clinical workflows in the management of complex patients.

Dr Davies bridges clinical care and academic research, contributing to the development of innovative techniques in cardiac electrophysiology while delivering specialist care for patients with arrhythmia.
