DR. SHOUVIK HALDAR

Dr Shouvik Haldar is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, where he treats NHS and private patients with a wide range of heart rhythm and general cardiac conditions. His specialist interests include the management of atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardias, ventricular arrhythmias and conduction abnormalities, as well as device therapy and heart failure.

He gained his medical degree from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School (now part of King’s College London), followed by general medical training in Oxford. He then entered the North West Thames cardiology training programme and undertook sub-specialty training in electrophysiology and devices at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.

Dr Haldar was awarded the prestigious Miriam L. Burnett fellowship in electrophysiology and devices at the University of Toronto, Canada. During this fellowship and subsequent advanced training, he worked with world-renowned experts in complex ablation and device therapy, gaining extensive experience in managing challenging arrhythmias and heart failure patients.

He was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals in July 2017.

Alongside his clinical work, he has a prominent national profile as Vice President for Education at the British Cardiovascular Society and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London. He is also Program Director for the UK Heart Rhythm Congress. He is highly active in clinical research in cardiac arrhythmias, catheter ablation, device therapy and digital health, including the use of apps and wearable technologies for arrhythmia detection, risk assessment and stroke prevention.

Dr Haldar has a particular interest in prevention, women’s cardiac health, lifestyle factors and innovative digital tools that empower patients to understand and manage their heart conditions.

He is committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care at the highest standard, with a strong focus on patient experience and long-term outcomes.
