Dr. Lo Monaco graduated with honours from the University of Pavia in 1997 and completed specialized cardiology training in 2003. He further advanced his expertise with a Postdoctoral Fellowship at New York Medical College, earning his American medical degree and passing the USMLE with distinction by 2009.
Since then, Dr. Lo Monaco has served at West Middlesex Hospital and taught at Imperial College, London. He also leads preparatory courses for Royal College of Physicians membership exams. Dr Antonis Pavlidis
Dr Antonis Pavlidis is an experienced ConsultantCardiologist based at St Thomas' Hospital, where he specialises ininterventional cardiology. Dr Nikolaos Papamichail
Dr Nikolaos Papamichail is a leading expert in cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac imaging, with a special interest in valvular heart disease and heart failure. Dr Papamichail had extensive training in General Cardiology and Echocardiography in his native Greece and UK and is also actively involved in clinical research with an interest in non-invasive cardiology. For his research he was awarded a PhD in experimental antiplatelet treatment of coronary artery thrombosis and he has published extensive scientific papers and book chapters (invited contributions) on various topics in cardiology, including echocardiography, valve disease, coronary artery disease, congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathies. Dr Teresa Castiello
Consultant Cardiologist – MD, FRCP, FHFA
Doctor Teresa Castiello is a passionate clinician with multi-faceted experience gained in over 20 years of work between Italy, the United Kingdom, and Developing Countries. As a clinician, Dr Castiello’s goal is to provide prevention, early diagnosis, and excellent management of cardiovascular diseases. Promoting a holistic approach where the person comes before his/her disease, with careful attention to the psychological and social environment.
Areas of expertise are: heart failure (inherited and acquired cardiomyopathies), and Cardiac Magnetic Resonance imaging, however, she has solid experience in general cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and exercise prescription, built upon the substrate of good general medicine. Dr Castiello has worked in a multidisciplinary team providing an excellent standard of care throughout the entire patient journey.
Undertaking a Medical Degree cum laude in 2001, at the prestigious La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy along with a specialisation in Cardiology, at University Campus Bio-Medico, Rome 2009. After completing a Specialisation in Cardiology and a long humanitarian mission in Africa, she earned a consultant post at San Raffaele in Rome, before relocating to London. She is now NHS Consultant Cardiologist and Director of MIAL Healthcare. She has served for over 8 years as lead of heart failure and cardiomyopathy services, which were both set up at Croydon University Hospital. Her imaging speciality is Cardiac MRI, which perform in Kings College London, being internationally certified with the CMR level 3 accreditation by ESC and SCMR.
Alongside clinical duties, Dr Castiello is a very active participant in national and international Societies and board committees. She is currently the Executive Board Member of the European Nucleus of Cardiomyopathy of the European Society of Cardiology, ESC, (Communication Coordinator), representative of the Genomic Council of the ESC and Inflammatory Cardiomyopathy Committee Member of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the ESC. Former structural member of the Patient Care and Digital health Committee and Advance Heart Failure and Palliative Care Task Force the HFA. She is Heart Failure Educational Lead for Cardiology Trainees with the Royal Society of Medicine, being responsible for organisation and delivery of cardiology training across Londoner trainees. She is the current President of the Royal Society of Medicine (Cardiology Section) the first female cardiologist invested in the role.
Dr Castiello’s research interest focuses on her areas of clinical expertise; she is the principal investigator of several trials and author and co-author of peer review papers and online educational sources.
Her active collaboration in national and international society granted her the honour to be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Fellow of the Heart Failure Association. Dr Castiello is also a Medical Science Communicator and Health Advocate, with a passion for making complex medical topics accessible to patients. She is dedicated to patient and peers education and scientific outreach through various media, including Television and Radio channels.
Dr. Castiello is a passionate advocate for women in medicine. She is a role model for young women who are interested in pursuing a career in cardiology. Dr Rahim Kanji
Dr Rahim Kanji is an outstanding Consultant Cardiologist, working at The National Heart Clinic, the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, and the Hammersmith Hospital, part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
Dr Rahim Kanji provides excellent general cardiology care, treating patients with shortness of breath (owing to heart failure, valvular and structural abnormalities), palpitations (owing to arrhythmia), hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia and chest pain (owing to heart attacks and angina).
In fact, for the latter, Dr Kanji is an expert, and investigates such patients with non-invasive tests, as well as invasive angiography, and treats with balloons and stents (angioplasty) as required. During this, he uses the latest technologies and best equipment, including intravascular imaging, ensuring the best possible, tailored treatment, minimising the risk of stent failure and further heart attacks.
It is this fantastic care, and the care delivered by his colleagues which has resulted in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust having the lowest age-standardised mortality rate in England.
At the Hammersmith Hospital, Dr Kanji is mainly focused on the treatment of patients with severe heart attacks, where he performs emergency lifesaving angioplasty.
Dr Kanji also spends a lot of his time and effort delivering talks and education to GPs (as well as cardiology trainees) as he recognises that the majority of cardiac care is provided by GPs in the community, and it is his passion to ensure all patients, including those he is not directly involved with, are in receipt of the best, latest care.
His delivery of outstanding care is only possible thanks to his world-class training in prestigious institutions and of course hard work! He obtained a BSc (in Endocrinology) and a medical degree from Imperial College London where he graduated with distinction. He underwent post-graduate medical training, and thereafter cardiology specialist training in the highly competitive and prestigious London - Imperial deanery, before undertaking a PhD in the risk stratification of patients with heart attacks and aortic stenosis, also awarded by Imperial College London (National Heart and Lung Institute). In fact, thanks to his research, he is considered an expert in anti-platelet therapy and the management of patients with thrombosis (heart attacks), and has published his work in high-impact factor journals.
He is also a pioneer in the virtual wards and virtual hospital space. He is in fact the lead for the chest pain virtual ward at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Trust, where he has extensive experience. Watch Dr Kanji talk about this in a live SKY news interview.
Dr Francesco Lo Giudice
Dr Francesco Lo Giudice is a highly experienced consultant cardiologist. His specialist interests include cardiac intensive care, the management of patients with acute and chronic ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathies, advanced heart failure and complex arrhythmias. His profession encompasses the execution of a range of procedures such as vascular ultrasound and thoracic-echo and right heart catheterisation. He frequently performs echocardiographic examinations such as trans-thoracic, stress echo, trans-oesophageal, contrast ultrasound and stress echo.
Dr Lo Giudice used his extensive experience to direct the team at the pulmonary hypertension service at the cardiovascular department of Trieste from 2009 until 2017. Much of his expertise is rooted in his academic years at the worldly renowned University of Palermo in Italy where he graduated with his summa cum laude medical qualification there in 1993 and later progressed to achieving full marks in his specialist training in cardiology, in 1998.
He spent various months at St Georges Hospital Medical School in London for a research fellowship in cardiology, having received a grant from The Mediterranean Institute for Transplantation and Advanced Specialized Therapies and another grant from The British Heart Foundation. This prestigious fellowship allowed him to expand his knowledge and develop his strengths to their full potential. As of 2017, Dr Lo Giudice has worked as a consultant cardiologist for the historic and reputable Hammersmith Hospital at Imperial College Healthcare, part of the NHS Trust. Dr Lo Giudice is an active researcher, he is passionate about staying up to date with state-of-the-art surgical techniques and continues to contribute to various highly regarded peer-reviewed medical journals.

Dr Sujay Chandran
Dr Sujay Chandran is an experienced, well-respected Consultant Cardiologist practicing at Kingston and St Thomas’ Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts. He is very comfortable managing all aspects of general cardiology, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, cardiac imaging, arrhythmias, heart failure and hypertension. He has specialist expertise in performing angiograms and percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty) for patients suffering with angina and chest pains due to coronary artery disease.
Dr Chandran gained his primary medical qualification at St George’s Hospital in 2006, after which he undertook his specialist cardiology training in various renowned London Hospitals. He then studied towards his Medical Doctorate at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he researched the molecular mechanisms that contribute to heart attacks. Dr Chandran also continued his specialist interventional cardiology training at the Royal Sussex County and St Thomas’ Hospitals. Upon completion of his UK cardiology training, he was awarded a fully funded international complex interventional Cardiology fellowship at McMaster University, Canada, where he was specifically trained in chronic total occlusion PCI and percutaneous mitral valve therapies. He was subsequently appointed Consultant Cardiologist at Worthing and the Royal Sussex County Hospitals where he was a consultant for five years, before moving to his current post.
