ABOUT Dr Osman Najam

Dr Osman Najam is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist specialising in the assessment and treatment of chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, high blood pressure and a wide range of heart conditions. He has extensive experience in coronary angiography and angioplasty (PCI), including complex procedures, and offers personalised, evidence-based care tailored to each patient.

He sees private patients across Kent, Surrey and London. Dr Najam places strong emphasis on clear communication, taking time to explain diagnoses, investigations and treatment options so patients feel informed and reassured.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Najam has a strong academic background, holding a PhD in cardiovascular science from University College London, with publications in leading international journals. He is passionate about using innovation and digital health to improve patient pathways, access to care and overall experience.

Dr Najam’s research interests include cardiovascular disease prevention and risk stratification, coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndromes, myocardial protection and cardioprotection, and complex coronary intervention. He has a strong academic background with a PhD in cardiovascular science from University College London and has published research in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Nature. He also has a growing interest in digital health and the responsible use of artificial intelligence to support cardiology pathways, triage and clinical decision-making, with the aim of improving patient care and access to specialist services.

Outside of work, Dr Najam enjoys spending time with his family and keeping active. He has a keen interest in fitness and regularly attends the gym, and also enjoys playing padel, tennis and football. He values a balanced lifestyle and believes that maintaining good physical and mental wellbeing is important for both patients and clinicians.

Dr Najam has published research in leading international, peer-reviewed journals. Selected publications include work in Nature on cardioprotection, Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions on complex coronary intervention techniques, and the European Heart Journal on lipoprotein(a) and cardiovascular disease. His research has also appeared in Atherosclerosis, The British Journal of Cardiology, Diabetic Medicine and Annals of Thoracic Surgery.
